The name “CASSIE CoRe®” was the acronym chosen for the English name of the scientific project entitled: Coastal Analyst System from Space Imagery Engine CoRe: Collaborative Research platform . This project is being financed by the CNPq/MCTI/FNDCT public call N°59/2022 – Knowledge Production Aimed at Solutions and Technologies Associated with Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change. Process N°. 406603/2022-7.

This project seeks to answer the following research question: With what degree of certainty is it possible to define the physical boundary conditions (coastline, intertidal topography, bathymetry and compression, hydrodynamics) of coastal regions (estuaries and adjacent beaches/dunes) that present optical complexity (e.g. cloud cover, suspended material, among others) from satellite images, for application in monitoring and future predictions of changes due to climate change?

In order to answer this question, the following hypothesis will be tested: the use of scene composition removes the effects of changes in the atmosphere and water column, these are much faster than changes in the morphology of the intertidal zone and submerged zones, to obtaining satellite-derived inversions.

Therefore, the general objective of this project is to define technical and operational methodology and develop a web platform that provides information services derived from satellite and artificial intelligence (e.g. coastline, topography, bathymetry, coastal compression, hydrodynamics) for creating applied collections. mitigation and adaptation of the coastal zone to climate change.
